Over the weekend, there were rumors of it coming and it turned out they were true. Earlier today, Apple made their high-end, noise-canceling earbuds official w/ the new Airpods Pro. So what makes these more Pro than the regular ones? A good amount actually.
First and foremost, you got flexible, silicone ear tips this go round for a more secure sealed in fit. Each box includes 3 different sizes to find the right fit for you. This as well as a software audio test to measure the sound level in your ear to ensure you have the right size in your ear. Don’t forget they added sweat + water-resistance to the body.
It has noise-canceling on-board that offers built-in mics to detect external sound and cancel it out. Similar to what Beats did w/ the Solo Pro headphones but adjusted up to 200 times per second. Along w/ that, you got transparency mode that allows you to hear your surroundings while wearing them thanks to their new force sensor that you can use to control music and turn the mode on/off. Next up, there’s Adaptive EQ to tunes to the music to the shape of your ears.
Like the 2nd-gen AirPods, the Pro support wireless charging + hands-free ‘Hey Siri’ support. The only downside I see is the 4.5 hour battery life due to the noise-canceling. However, you got a large charging case that can give you up to 24 hours of juice in total. No USB-C though but you do have a Lightning to USB-C cord in the box though.
They launch on Wednesday, October 30th w/ a $249 price tag on it. Are these the AirPods you’ve been waiting for? And are you picking these up?
