Earlier this week at CES, Sony held its atypical keynote and unveiled a few cool things.  But when they ended it by rolling this thing out and no one was expecting it at all.  By this thing, I mean the Sony Vision S concept electric car.  This is the thing that I’m sure no one saw coming.

So this vehicle is a functioning and working car – not completely but close to it.  This can do 0-60MPH in 4.5 seconds, has AWD, and 2 200kW motors w/ 1 in each axle.  On the inside, you got a total of 30 sensors throughout the vehicle w/ 10 Sony image sensors as well as LIDAR, radar, & ultrasonic ones, a dashboard consisting of 5 displays into one (3 larger ones for the main telemetrics/speed/entertainment + 2 on the side that covers your side mirrors + blindspots), touchscreen displays for those in the rear, and individual seat speakers as a part of their 360-degree spatial surround sound to handle the media output.

But don’t get too excited over this as at the current time, Sony is not interested in building an electric vehicle or getting into the automobile industry.  However, that doesn’t mean that they won’t eventually partner w/ another carmaker to implement their tech or sensors or ideas into another vehicle.

So what do you think about the Sony Vision S?  Would you buy this?
