Another case of the rumors turning out to be true.   There rumor mill has been buzzing over the past few months about Canon possibly releasing another EOS R camera but this would be the one everyone would want.

Last night, they announced its existence w/ the upcoming EOS R5 full-frame mirrorless camera.   So the new EOS R5 will offer up to 8K video & downsample 8K to a better quality 4K video, shoots bursts at 12fps w/ the mechanical shutter + 20fps w/ the silent electronics one, in-body image stabilization that will work w/ lens stabilization, and dual card slots.  Having 2 card slots will come in handy as 8K video takes up a lot of space – like 400MB-800MB per minute.  Handling/shooting 8K video and faster shooting speeds are all possible due to their new CMOS sensor.

Canon may have Sony & other shaking in their boots w/ this one.

These are the changes people were kind of expecting when the EOS R/RP dropped.  Especially w/ the whole cropped 4K video that pissed people off.  Whatever the case, it was still a great camera.  Great enough to tempt me to sell my Sony and jump ship.  The EOS R5 just might make me do so w/ the longer battery life and better color science.  We’ll see when it comes out and we got official pricing on it.  More will be revealed on it later this month @the CP+ Camera and Photo Show in Tokyo.

If it’s not too pricey, I may jump over to the Canon side of things.  Depending on the pricing, will you be picking this one up?
