Google’s Chromecast has been a staple of streaming content to your TV when it 1st launched a few years back.  But over the past few years, that feature has been making its way to Smart TVs so the Chromecast has been a little less important.  This could soon change.

According to the folks over at 9to5Google, Google is working on a new Chromecast Ultra that will add a new & necessary component: Android TV.  So Google would ship an Android TV-powered Chromecast Ultra of course w/ a remote w/ Google Assistant.  So along w/ the ability to stream 4K HDR content, you’ll have Bluetooth + Wi-Fi connectivity, and the ability to access your favorite apps w/o needing your phone anymore.  Outside of the new features, the look is said to remain the same w/ a soft-touch finish, the G logo, & connect via HDMI.

A new Google Chromecast just passed through the FCC so we’re expecting it to be this.  This is a good move as it would make for a more fulfilling streaming experience at home – unless you’re rocking a hacked Fire Stick.
