There were rumblings of this happening and it is finally here.  Universal Studios is prepping to release a few of their films currently in the theaters available to rent on demand for $20.  This bit of news is courtesy of the folks over at Deadline.

This would bring films like The Invisible Man, The Hunt, and Emma to digital platforms to rent at home for $20 per film.  This is kicking off this Friday, March 20th on digital services.  This would also apply to the Trolls World Tour which is due out on April 10th and will be available on VOD on the same day as well.  Even though it is more pricier than other rentals, you’d be paying for that early access and it would be cheaper for families than to going to the theaters.

Universal new rollout arrives just in time as everyone is more or less home bound thanks to the coronavirus everywhere.  Although, this is an interesting spin on film access, I can still imagine that there will still be a lot of $$$ lost behind this move.

Would you rent a film from this service?
