As of today, there is officially one less carrier out of the big 4 – for now.  The Sprint & T-Mobile merger is now complete as they will now operate as the New T-Mobile.  Effective immediately, their controversial CEO John Legere is stepping down and COO Mike Sievert is taking on CEO duties.

The new T-Mobile will bring forth their 5G network to reach 99% of the US within 6 years and offer 50Mbps speeds to those in rural areas.  They’re also set to launch an in-home wireless internet service that can hit 100Mbps within 6 years and give free internet access to 10 million home within 5 years.  All while promising the same or better rate plans for 3 years.

I said one less for now as Sprint’s pre-paid companies like Boost + Virgin Mobile goes to Dish network.  Dish will also be allowed to use T-Mo’s network for up to 7 years so they can have the opportunity to be the new 4th largest carrier.  We’ll see how that all works out though.

Sprint customers will see the most benefits are their service will get better and faster.  Hopefully, w/o compromising cost.  T-Mo customers will get better 5G speeds and more.

Now that it is official, what do you think about it?
