So earlier today, Samsung held their Unpacked event for their remaining flagship of the year: the Galaxy Z Fold 2.  Samsung is calling it their luxury device as its $20 more than last year’s $1980 price tag.

To avoid mishaps like last year, Samsung upgraded the screen w/ their more durable Ultra Thin Glass like on their Z Fold, and a preinstalled plastic screen protector.  They’re also offering a one-time screen replacement for $149.  Now the hinge got upgraded as well to help it stand on its own from 75-115 degrees.  The new hinge offers 4 cams to increase its rigidity to better support those angles.  There’s also new elastic brushes to keep dirt + debris from getting into the hinge mechanism + damaging the screen.

A better hinge to make this $1,900 w/ even more luxurious.

So the 2nd-gen Fold offers a 6.2inch HD AMOLED display w/ 2260 x 816 resolution for the cover + a 7.6inch 120Hz AMOLED display w/ 2208 x 1768 resolution for the phone open, powered by a Snapdragon 865+ CPU, 12GB of RAM, choice of 256GB or 512GB of storage, running Android 10 w/ Samsung One UI, a triple rear camera setup w/ f/2.2 12MP ultra-wide + f/1.8 12MP standard w/ OIS + f/2.4 12MP telephoto w/ OIS, a f/2.2 10MP selfie camera for the front cover, fingerprint reader on the side, stereo speakers, and a 4500 mAh battery capable of fast wired + wireless charging & reverse wireless charging.

It will arrive in 2 colors of Bronze + Black as it will cost you $2,000.  There will be a Thom Browne edition of the Fold 2 that will come w/ Galaxy Watch 3, Galaxy Buds Live and an array of fully customized accessories for $3,400.

There will be trade-ins welcome to save up to $800 as well.  Pre-orders kick off tonight at 12:01AM EST and will arrive on September 18th.  So are you picking one up?
