This morning, Microsoft had some exciting & surprising news to share in the gaming world. They have agreed to acquire ZeniMax Media which is the parent company of Bethesda Softworks – home of Fallout + Doom games for $7.5 billion in cash.
Perfect timing as their set to launch 2 new consoles w/ the Xbox Series X & the Series S. This bit of news won’t affect the PS5 + PC exclusives set to arrive / Deathloop + Ghostwire: Tokyo as they will still be honored. However, future games will arrive on non-Xbox platforms on a ‘case-by-case basis.’
Add this w/ Bethesda games coming to Xbox Game Pass for Xbox + PC, this is an interesting time to be an Xbox gamers – of course if you’re a fan of their franchises. Microsoft says Bethesda will still keep its current leadership so if you love how they’re moving, not much should change on that part.
