Yesterday, Nintendo held a surprise Direct showcase online to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the Super Mario Bros. franchise. With that comes a modernized version of their Gaem & Watch handheld system w/ a full-color LCD inside of a lovely Gold color that reminds me of the OG Zelda cartridge.
The design is based off of the original Control Pad from 1980. The handheld will include the OG Super Mario Bros, Super Mario Bros: The Lost Levels (Super Mario 2 in Japan), and an updated version of Game & Watch Ball game starring Mario. It also acts as a digital clock w/ Easter eggs within it as well.
The new Game & Watch is due out on November 13th for $50 but will have a limited production run. So you might want to keep an eye out for pre-order details or else you’ll miss out.
