Even though not all of the iPhone 12 models have yet to arrive to customers, there’s already rumors circulating on next year’s iPhones. This info is courtesy of analyst Ming-Chi Kuo who has a pretty decent track record on the leaks by the way of MacRumors BTW.
First things first, you can expect the same 4 phone lineup like they did this year w/ a mini, a regular, a Pro, & Pro Max. Along w/ this we should see the usual CPU bump in performance as well. The ultra-wide on the 13 Pro & 13 Pro Max is said to get a better w/ an f/1.8 sensor w/ 6 elements + auto-focus as the iPhone 12 models offer a f/2.4 sensor w/ 5 elements + a fixed focus. As far as the rest of the updates, we may get the port-free iPhone as well as long-awaited 120Hz ProMotion displays, and a next-gen Touch ID (possibly under the screen or within the Power button). But wait there’s one more thing.
Kuo got a word on what Apple is working on for their 2022 iPhone lineup as well. They would make the 3 camera setup standard across all iPhones and add a 4th one to the Pro line. The talk is that it would be a periscope telephoto lens that can boost the optical zoom beyond the 5x the 12 Pro Max can currently do.
Well, that’s it for now. I decided to opt out of a new iPhone this year and wait for the next year’s model. So we got just about a whole year to see what Apple will churn out for the next iteration of the iPhone.
