Android 12. This is one of the biggest announcements many have been waiting for. It offers a complete design and UI overhaul to bring us to the next evolution of Material Design called Material You. Of course in doing so, Google brought back its creator Matias Duarte to do just that.
So the 12th update for Android offers you a more personalized experienced w/ better animations + performance along w/ a redesigned notifications that includes Pay + Home shortcuts, settings, larger Clock & other widgets (on the home + lockscreens), keyboards, & more.
Along w/ all of the new looks, Google made sure to beef up the security features as well w/ a new Privacy Dashboard. This brings forth a single view on your permission settings along w/ an indicator to show if the app is using the mics/cameras, and choose more accurate location permission settings. This will also work for Live Caption, Now Playing and Smart Reply features.
Android 12 will be out officially in the fall – probably alongside the new Pixels. In the meantime, the 1st public beta is out now so if you have a Pixel 4 or a Pixel 4a 5G or a Pixel 5, you can grab it now and start your latest Android experience. We’re currently downloading the beta onto it on our Pixel 5.
