So after being teased w/ leaks Sony made their newest earbuds official earlier today. Meet the new noise-canceling WF-1000XM4 earbuds armed w/ many things to continue to leapfrog Sony above the competition of earbuds.
These XM4s are definitely smaller than the previous models by 10% thanks to its redesign which I think is an improvement. You got IPX4 rating for sweat/water resistance, a new processing chip to beef up their noise-canceling abilities, and a new voice call system comprised of beamforming mics + bone conduction sensors. These has everything have for multipoint Bluetooth connection.
Now onto the battery life side of things, Sony quotes it at 8 hours of juice w/ NC on. This trumps the major competition as the like Apple, Bose, Jabra, & Samsung caps out at around 5ish hours w/ said feature turned on. Sony also shrunk the charging case by 40% as it charges via USB-C & Qi wireless charging.
The new WF-1000XM4s are out now are various retailers in your choice of Black or Light Gray color options – both w/ gold accents. They’re competitively priced at $280 to go head-to-head w/ the Bose Quiet Comfort earbuds.
Will these be your next pair of earbuds?
