Over the weekend, Tesla started to roll out their ‘Full-Self Driving’ beta version 9 over-the-air software update to their vehicles. So v9 of this beta is apart of their early access program at the moment which only has around 2,000 cars w/ most of them Tesla employees.
So for just making things clear, this isn’t complete full-on autonomous driving but more so an advanced driver assist system. This will utilize Tesla Vision which is a computer vision system which uses optical images instead of from their radar sensor like before. When ‘FSD’ is on, it takes up the entire display w/ the important stuff like driving speed, detected speed limit, Autopilot availability/set speed at the bottom of the display.
Tesla owners have been waiting on this update since 2018. Even crazier that, Autopilot was only released a few years prior than that in 2015. So the wait has been quite real. You can check out what the update offers within the videos below.
