Yesterday, Sony announced that their new update is coming for the PlayStation 5 – one many of you have been waiting for.  This is their 2nd big PS5 update adding the most wanted feature: the ability to upgrade your built-in storage.  But there is a lot more to it as well.

So like I said about upgrading the hardware, you’ll finally be able to add to the 825GB built-in storage.  If you’ve grabbing tons of games, you’re already running out of space.  You can grab an M.2 SSD (high-speed solid state drive) & add to your PS5 storage for PS4+ PS5 titles and media apps.  So you’re gonna need a heatsink that fits and the ‘right’ kind of M.2 SSD.

Next up, we got PS Remote Play that will now won’t need super-fast Wi-Fi speeds to do so.  So you’ll be able to navigate menus and stream games w/ only 5Mbps to play but Sony suggests 15Mbps in either 4G/5G connections.

Then you’ll get to experience 3D audio via your TV’s stereo speakers just like it works on their compatible headsets.  However, don’t look for Dolby Atmos support as of yet but it can arrive in the near future.  This feature also applies to their DualSense controller that will let you use the built-in mic to calibrate your audio settings for your TV.  Which is ideal for those of you who owns Sony Pulse 3D headset.

  • You can customize the layout of the Control Center by moving/hiding options.
  • A new Trophy Tracker feature that lets you bookmark up to 5 awards that can be viewed from the Control Center.
  • Coming on September 23rd is the ability to stream Share Screens form a friend’s PS5 within the PS app on Android/iOS.

So when you get a chance, make sure you update your consoles when you can.
