Earlier this morning, Nintendo announced pricing & more details on their top-tier Switch Online subscription. In case you missed it or forgot, this will add multiplayer online games w/ access to classic N64 & Sega Genesis.
This new subscription tier will arrive on October 25th at $50 per month for single use + $80 per month for families up to 8 accounts. Along w/ the new goodies, this will be on top of the games on top of NES + SNES titles as well as the Happy Home Paradise DLC for Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
The revealed N64 games at launch will be Super Mario 64, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, & Mario Kart 64. With titles like Banjo-Kazooie, Pokémon Snap, The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask, and Paper Mario coming soon. Genesis titles at launch will be Sonic 2, Shinobi III: Return of the Ninja Master, Golden Axe, Ecco The Dolphin , & more. You’ll also be able to play w/ classic N64 + Genesis controllers Nintendo is selling as well.
So Nintendo went from the regular Switch Online at $20 for the year + $35 for families to this premium tier to better feed gamers nostalgic cravings of yesteryear. The downside is that you’re now more than likely paying 2 or 3 monthly online gaming services as Nintendo’s price just went up.
