So in a surprise way to start the weekend, Netflix announced that they’ll be hiking their prices again. Now this won’t a massive one but Netflix as well as other streaming services have been gradually increasing their prices – little by little, year after year.
Now you expect things to go up by $1 or $2 depending what plan you have. The basic plan will go from $9 to $10, the standard plan will go from $14 to $15.50, and the 4K plan will go from $18 to $20. The new pricing will take effect immediately for new subscribers while current ones will be rolled out slowly w/ an email announcement going out 30 days before it goes into effect.
Now this will apply to both US & Canadian Netflix subscribers as well. Like always, their reasoning behind them is for them to continue offering a wide variety of entertainment options so subscribers can pick a price that works for them.
Even though Hulu & Disney Plus have recently upped their pricing, it might get to the point where this will be an annual thing for streaming services. They won’t stop until we’re more than what we would’ve for cable. For some, you might already be there depending on the amount of steaming services you subscribe to.
