Although the streaming wars are in full effect and the competition is heating up.  The recent trend in  streaming is a cheaper, ad-supported option as HBO Max, Peacock, & Hulu already has it.

Earlier today, Disney announced that they will be adding a cheaper tier of their streaming service as well set to arrive sometime in late 2022.  Oddly enough, Disney+ is already one of the cheaper streaming services out on the market w/ an $8 monthly option & $80 annually w/o ads.

Now the reason behind everyone doing this is for more subscribers.  Especially since Disney+ subscriber growth has slowed down recently.  They want to make sure they hit their 230-260 million subscribers by 2024.  And w/ they’re currently about half of their minimum target at around 129.8 million subs.  The even cheaper option could help them get there in their targeted timeframe.

BTW, the cheaper option would hit the US 1st later this year and expand internationally afterwards.  With all of the content slowing down on Disney+, would you be interested in a cheaper option w/ ads to save some $$$?
