Now we didn’t see the return of Google’s Face Unlock for the Pixel 6A as the in-display fingerprint reader remains.  Now to many Pixel 6 series owners wished for a better iteration of Google’s choice of biometrics.  But is it the same one from the Pixel 6 series?  Luckily, it will be armed w/ a different one.

This bit of news comes courtesy of the folks over at Android Central who got the info straight from the horse’s mouth.  And by the horse’s mouth, we mean the senior vice president of devices and services at Google, Rick Osterloh.  He stated that the 6A will be equipped w/ a different in-display fingerprint scanner.  No word or confirmation if it will still be a different type optical-based like on the Pixel 6 series or an ultrasonic-based one like the ones Samsung uses.

Hopefully the biometric on the Pixel 6 series will be a learning lesson for Google.  While it did get slightly better, I’ll personally take the one from the latest OnePlus or Samsung flagship over the current one any day.  Not sure what this bit of news will do for the chances of Google’s Face Unlock’s return for the Pixel 7 alongside an in-display fingerprint scanner.

Does this bit of news raise your interest in the Pixel 6A or the Pixel 7 series?  Or do you need to see if its actually better & competitive or not?
