The word ergonomic is defined as relating to or designed for efficiency and comfort in the working environment. While many might think of the keyboard, the mouse is just as, if not, more important. In regards to comfort for everyday use.
Logitech is one of the few accessory companies making this w/ ergonomics in mind. One of their more recent releases is the Lift which is a vertical-shaped, ergonomic mouse. It is on the eco-friendly side of things as it is made from recycled plastic. Let’s get into our experience of using it over the past few weeks.
The Lift has a total of 6 buttons (left, right, back, forward, middle, scroll wheel w/ middle click. The Lift mouse is made to be ergonomic to use your hands in a natural position while on your computer. You get quiet button clicks and speeds up to 4,000 DPI. FYI: DPI (Dots Per Linear Inch) is used to measure mouse sensitivity for faster speeds in precision for gaming, editing, & more.
It sits at a 57-degree angle, which is a more natural position for a handshake. Everything is within reach from every button, scroll, and a more comfortable grip to hold and use. While I have larger hands, it is still easy to use w/ very little effort or discomfort w/ hours of use. Mind you, this was my very 1st time using a vertical mouse and now I don’t want to use a regular one anymore.
It can connect to your computer via a USB receiver or Bluetooth. Since I got various Bluetooth connections in my home, I prefer the USB receiver as it is faster & easier to get started a la plug-and-play. And using their Logi software, you can create your own shortcuts as well as use it between 3 different devices. The software is fine as it can be fine-tuned a bit but you can just plug in and start using it if you want to keep things basic as well.
As far as the battery side of things, don’t expect to change the battery on this often. The Lift runs on a single AA battery that Logitech says it can last up to 2 years. Of course, we don’t have a time machine to go forward and see if it will hold or not. but we will update this to let you know if this does or does not last for the said time.
For those of you working from home or those of you who do 90% of their work on a computer of sorts, this should be your new mouse. This can help
alleviate any wrist pain/discomfort as well as prevent future issues like carpal tunnel.
The Lift mouse will cost you $70 and comes in both a right and left-handed version. This is ideal for small + medium-sized hands but if you have bigger hands, there is the slightly larger MX Vertical mouse which adds some premium finishes for just over $100.
