5 Ways To Turn Your Smartphone Into A Business Tool

Smartphones are great if you run your own business as you can check emails on the go, stay in touch with clients and employees, and check for scheduled meetings using your phone’s calendars.

You will likely know all this already. But how else can you turn your smartphone into a business tool? Here are some suggestions we hope you find useful.

Manage your invoices

You can manage your invoices from your laptop or desktop computer but as you won’t have access to these devices when you’re out of the office, you can use your phone instead. With an invoices app, you can create, manage, edit and send invoices on the go, and with some apps (including the one in the link), you can sync your invoices between devices too.

Prepare a presentation

If you need to prepare a meeting but you’re late for work because you’re stuck on the train, you’re going to be pretty stressed out, especially if you need to prepare a presentation for an important client. Thankfully, you don’t need to use your computer to prepare the presentation as you could download one of the Office apps that are available for your phone. Office 365, Microsoft Powerpoint, and Google Workspace are just some of the apps that can be recommended but browse your phone to see what else is available.

Use a virtual assistant

Sure, you could hire somebody to be your personal assistant but if you don’t need somebody full-time, you could use the virtual assistant on your phone instead. Whether it’s Apple Siri or Google Assistant, you can manage your team calendar, create to-do lists, schedule calls, send messages, set alarms to remind you about meetings, and so much more. You can do all of this with just your voice, which is perfect if you’re on the move and not able to use your phone manually.

Access your desktop computer

What do you do if you need access to an important file on your desktop computer? You could ask an employee to email it to your phone but if they aren’t available, you could use a remote desktop app to access your desktop from wherever you are. This way, you will be able to retrieve anything you need for a meeting without having to journey back to your office to search through your computer.

Collaborate with your team

You don’t need to be in the same room as your team members or employees if you need to collaborate on a task. As we mentioned in our article on remote business technology, you can use apps such as Trello to manage projects and collaborate with the people who are working on them. This is one way to improve efficiency as work doesn’t have to be slowed down because one or more people are out of the office.

These are just some of the ways you can use your smartphone as a business tool. However, this list isn’t exhaustive so check your app store and phone capabilities to discover other ways to use your phone to run your business.
