Welcome to the next stage in Sonos audio products.  Previously, it’s been the Play series and branched off from that.  Now, we’re moving into the Era series of speakers.  Introducing the $249 Sonos Era 100 and the $449 Era 300 speakers now up for pre-order and will be available on March 28th.

The Era 100 is looking to replace the Sonos One lineup as this is setup to be the natural progression for this product.  it is now rounder and larger as well as now offering two tweeters for true left + right stereo reproduction.  There’s even a larger woofer for better bass output.  Sonos is now add Bluetooth playback here as well as USB-C line-in support w/ the help of an added $20 adapter.

Now the Era 300 isn’t replacing a previous  Sonos speaker but its more a newer solution to go against the likes of the Apple HomePod and Amazon Echo Studio in the spatial audio department.  More on that part in a bit.  The oddly-shaped speaker is armed w/ 4 tweeters aimed froward, left, right, & up along w/ woofers to handle the low-end.

Making the Era 300 well-equipped for stereo, Dolby Atmos and spatial audio support.  Sonos will offer spatial audio playback for both Apple Music and Amazon Music at launch as well as being able to play Dolby Atmos music from Apple.  All of this makes for an affordable solution for home theater setup.  You can have 2 Era 300s paired w/ an Arc and a Sub to get a 7.1.4 system.

While you have better Trueplay Android support, don’t look for Google Assistant voice control support anytime soon on either the Era 100 or the Era 300.  Sonos doesn’t feel its worth it at the moment and would rather support their own Sonos Voice Control and Alexa.

So you now have all of the necessary info.  Are you pre-ordering an Era 100 and/or Era 300 today or what?
