Kia is kicking off the 2024 NY Auto Show by revealing their replacement for their compact Forte sedan w/ the all-new K4. This is their 4th-generation compact sedan offering their customers more room, more tech, and a faster turbocharged option which is armed with the latest design and features from Kia’s larger flagship vehicles.
Continuing their ‘Opposites United’ design approach, the K4 brings many familiar cues from its larger sibling the K5 with vertical LED headlights and taillights. Touting the title of the largest compact sedan, the K4 offers a total length of 185.4inches and a width of 72.8inches which includes 38inches of legroom, 37.3inches of headroom in the rear, and a trunk that holds 14.6 cubic feet of space.
The K4's interior borrows pieces of both the Ev9 and the mid-sized K5 sedan.
Inside you have close to 30inches of digital display (consisting of two 12.3inches screens and a 5inch one) to access driver info, media, along with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. You can also access Kia’s smart features like Intelligent Speed Limit Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, Smart Cruise Control, Highway Driving Assist, Blind Spot Collision Warning, and Forward Collision Avoidance. The K4 also supports Digital Key 2.0 which lets you use supported iPhone and Samsung phones to lock, unlock, or drive your vehicle, as well as the option to share your digital keys w/ friends and family. And then add the benefits of Harman Kardon premium audio, a wide sunroof, and heated + ventilated front seats.
And lastly, under the hood, Kia offers two engine options for the K4. One is a 2.0-liter engine w/ 147hp + 132lb-ft of torque and the other is a 1.6 liter turbocharged engine w/ 190hp + 195lb-ft of torque on an 8-speed automatic transmission. The turbocharged options are only available on the GT-Line and GT-Line Turbo trims which add a multi-link rear suspension to the mix.
The K4 is expected to arrive in the US sometime during the 2nd half of the year and will arrive in LX, LXS, EX, GT-Line, and GT-Line Turbo trims.
