The Fitbit app is getting a redesign with a new Gemini-powered personal health coach, with a focus on your fitness, sleep, and overall health and wellness. The updated experience would also include a content library full of workout videos. As Google says, nutrition, cycle-tracking, and more tracking data are coming soon to the app.
The personal health coach can create fitness plans (including full workouts), set goals, track your progress, and give advice on exercises. On the sleep side of things, it can provide a detailed sleep analysis and personal recommendations, and help you understand your sleep patterns and trends. For the health and wellness portion, you can learn about current or potential health conditions, ask questions for more insight into your data, get a deeper understanding of your nutrition options, and help understand life stages and women’s health.
You’ll need to complete a 5- to 10-minute conversation with your coach to learn about your habits and goals. The more info you share, the more detailed the plans will be. However, you skip this portion and do it later for those who want to dive right into the new experience. But, if you’re not interested in the latest preview, you can opt out and revert to the current Fitbit experience.
Pixel Watch and Fitbit users can take full advantage of the new personal health coach with access to it 24/7. The app includes an ‘Ask Coach’ option, which is always available and accessible via a button at any time.
The public preview begins rolling out to Fitbit Premium users on Android within the US starting tomorrow, October 28, with iOS users coming soon.
