It appears as if Google is ready to reveal more Android XR products, and Samsung’s Galaxy XR headset soon won’t be alone anymore to combat Apple’s Vision Pro. Yesterday, Google teased Android Show: XR Edition, which is a new Android XR virtual event happening on December 8 at 1PM ET/10AM PT.
Despite the tease, there is no official word on whether we will finally see Google XR hardware or hardware from its partners. However, there are two Android bots shown wearing XR headsets—one being the Galaxy XR and the other possibly the rumored XR smart glasses that were teased at Google I/O in the past two years.
Having demoed the Galaxy XR briefly at Samsung’s most recent holiday party, I honestly like it. However, time will tell if it will be a game-changer or not. I’m curious to see if Google and other companies can keep the traction and interest going. We’ll find out shortly, after the 8th.
