Yup. Announced earlier this week, Google Home with Gemini just got more powerful and additional abilities. The company announced a two-part update with Gemini 3.1 with its new AI improvements, which apply to Home devices with and without cameras, and updates to Google Home.

The newest update beefs up Gemini’s ability to interpret requests, which include complex and multi-step voice commands for problem-solving; better calendar and alarm management for moving calendar events or handling repeating events; faster navigation, smoother video scrubbing, and zoomed-in previews for video; new automation abilities, including checking locked doors and controlling robovacs; customizable Quick Action buttons for control over multiple homes; and improved notifications.

These improvements are in addition to the recent Gemini enhancements to better understand natural language, improve activity summaries, and fix the accuracy of recognizing different animals. Combined, this all beefs up the functionality for your Google Home products. For those interested in checking out these new features early, you can sign up for Google’s Public Preview to test them out ahead of the public.
