Today kicks off the 2027 Snapdragon Summit out in Hawaii, which brings forth new chips to power the many Android devices across the globe. Today, we got the newest flagship chips: the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 with the 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6.
Both Gen 6 chips are nearly the same when it comes to their bigger cores up to 5GHz and performance cores up to 4 GHz. Both offer improved AI processing, video capture, and gaming performance solely on the Extreme variant. However, the Extreme produces mildly better performance across its CPU, GPU, and NPU. On the video side of things, the faster chip also is capable of 8K at 60fps and 4K at 240fps.
Motorola already announced its newest Signature 27 smartphone powered by the Extreme chip. Other manufacturers, including Honor, iQOO, OnePlus, Oppo, Redmi, RedMagic, Vivo, and Xiaomi, have already signed up to use these chips to power their phones.
