Amazon is back with a new selection of tablets, as the company has officially done away with its Fire and Fire HD budget tablets and decided to do things a bit differently this time around. Introducing the more premium and powerful Alexa tablets, which arrive in three sizes: 8-inches, 11-inches, and 12-inches. All are available for pre-order and go on sale October 14.
The company’s flagship model is the $500 Alexa Tablet 12 Pro, which is made with productivity in mind. It’s 6.5mm thin and offers a 12-inch 120 Hz refresh rate and a 3:2 aspect ratio and arrives in two display options: a standard glossy LCD or a textured ‘nanomatte.’ It’s powered by a 4 nm, 8-core MediaTek Dimensity 8400 chip, offers up to 16 hours of battery life on a single charge, and has up to 16 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. The latter only comes with the nanomatte option for $120 more. Amazon’s flagship tablet also gets dedicated accessories, including a $90 stylus and the $150 keyboard, which attaches magnetically without the need of Bluetooth pairing.
The Alexa Tablet 8 and Alexa Tablet 11 are powered by an 8-core processor and are ideal for smaller content consumption, reading, gaming, etc. The $230 Tablet 8 is 7.95mm think and weighs 329 grams. It arrives with an 8.7-inch 60 Hz display with up to 400 nits of peak brightness, 4 GB of RAM, and 64 GB of base storage. It will ship in graphite, rosette, and teal color options. While the $330 Tablet 11 boasts a 2.5K 90 Hz display with a 16:10 cinematic aspect ratio and ships with 8 GB of RAM, 64 GB of storage, Dolby Atmos speakers, and offers up to 15-hour battery life. It will ship in graphite, amethyst, and matcha color options.
All three models offer an aluminum unibody build, and unlike previous Amazon slates, the Alexa tablets run Android 16, complete with the Google Play Store, so no more workarounds. Being an Amazon device, they will also come preloaded with Prime Video, Kindle, Amazon Music, and Audible apps. Instead of Gemini, all three will arrive with Alexa+ AI with its on-screen intelligence for questions, controlling your smart home, and more.
