Earlier this week, Google rolled out a major October 2026 update for its recent Pixel Buds 2a and Pro 2 earbuds, bringing several new features. The update adds five new features in total for both buds, with only one feature designated for the Pro 2s.
The Pixel Buds Pro 2s exclusively get a new dynamic ANC, which adjusts the audio or ANC levels based on the buds’ seal in your ears.
The rest of the features will arrive for both the Buds 2a and Pro 2 earbuds. There’s also tap-to-mute, which lives up to its name by letting you mute or unmute your calls with a quick tap while using a Pixel phone; live translation can be activated with a single tap; you can now adjust your ANC and EQ and activate touch controls via Gemini voice command; and it adds sleep detection when wearing a Pixel Watch to pause music, mute notifications, and deactivate touch controls.
The company made the official announcement via a Pixel Buds community post. For Buds 2a and Pro 2 owners looking forward to the new software, be on the lookout for v6.144.
