Say goodbye to the Fitbit Charge line, and hello to the $180 Fitbit Edge. Yup, the reported name, images, and specs are aligned to be accurate—even down to the pricing. As with any recent Google fitness-based wearable, it will work in tandem with Google Health, including the Health Guardian features.
The Edge arrives in four color options: Obsidian, Olive, Canyon, and Fog, and includes three months of Google Health Premium. Pre-orders for the Edge kick off today, and they go on sale on October 27.
The Fitbit Edge is relatively lightweight, as it comes in at only 17.7 grams. This is also the first repairable Fitbit device, down to its replaceable battery. It arrives with a 1.3-inch hybrid OLED always-on display, an IP68 and 5 ATM-rated body, powered by an Ambiq AP5 chip, 64 GB of storage, and a 65 mAh battery that Google quotes up to seven days on a single charge and can provide one day of battery with a five-minute charge.
FYI: Most of the Gemini support will arrive via Google Health’s Personal Coach. The Edge doesn’t include a mic or a speaker, so you’ll need a recent Pixel Watch for hands-free Gemini requests.
On the health and fitness side, the Edge can track up to 100 different exercises in both manual and automatic activity tracking, including cycle tracking. It can also track and monitor ECG, continuous heart rate monitoring, heart rate variability, resting heart rate, sleep tracking, skin temperature, SpO2, VO2 max, AFib, menstrual cycle fluctuations via health, fitness, and daily routines, and blood pressure and insulin trends.
As with the Fitbit Air and Pixel Watch 5, there’s also a Steph Curry Edition, which ups the price to $220. This special edition model differs from the standard with a custom color, a basketball-themed watch face, satin-finish lugs, and a water-repellent band.
