So in August around the launch of the newest Pixel 11 phones, there was marketing material that displayed an unknown device amongst the Pixel 11 Pro, 11 Pro Fold, Buds Pro 2, and Watch 5. Many speculated that it would be a successor to the Fitbit Charge and made to work with the Google Health software.
Now we actually have a name for it thanks to a report from Android Headlines: Meet the Google Fitbit Edge. The device is aimed to be a fitness wearable option between the Fitbit Air and the Pixel Watch 5 and work with both Android and iOS. And based on the leaked images, the Edge will share the same color options as the Pixel 11 Pro phones of Canyon, Olive, and Obsidian.
Rumored specs include some notifications, a GPS, an altimeter, and automatic activity detection. If it’s a Fitbit device, I imagine there will be a sort of heart-rate monitor onboard as well, despite having what appears to be an entirely different sensor from the Pixel Watch 5. Speaking of the Fitbit Air, the Edge is rumored to share the same battery life of up to seven days.
The Google Fitbit Edge is expected to launch later this month and cost $150 or $200. The company is looking to provide consumers with plenty of options for fitness wearables in time for the upcoming holiday season.
