In a more interesting move, Canon is prepping another mirrorless camera part of their EOS R-line. The new intel suggests that it won’t be a slight refresh but a smaller & cheaper model: the Canon EOS RP.
So the EOS RP will offer a smaller size shooter that weighs a bit less as well. However being smaller, there will be trade-offs. Like gone is the top LCD that shows off the current settings, the multifunction bar, in-body image stabilization, and weather-sealed body. The RP will sport the same 26.2MP sensor from the Canon 6D Mk II w/ their dual-pixel auto-focus system, the flip-out touchscreen LCD display, 5fps continuous shooting, ISO range from 100-40,000, & their Digic 8 image processor.
The new shooter is rumored to be priced around $1,500. The EOS RP is slated to be announced next week on Valentine’s Day a long w/ new glass for the R-line as well. We’re expecting 5 to be exact, ranging from a f/1.2 85mm L to a f/2.8 70-200mm L lenses.
Would this steer you away from the latest from Sony, Nikon, & Panasonic?
