If you’re interested in picking up an Xbox, whether as a secondary console or replacing your original, you should do it sooner rather than later. Announced late last week, Microsoft is increasing the prices of all of its Xbox consoles beginning on October 3rd.

Here’s what it will cost to buy a new Xbox console, starting in October:

  • Xbox Series S 512 GB — $399.99 (was $379.99)
  • Xbox Series S 1TB — $449.99 (was $429.99)
  • Xbox Series X Digital — $599.99 (was $549.99)
  • Xbox Series X — $649.99 (was $599.99)
  • Xbox Series X 2TB Galaxy Black Special Edition — $799.99 (was $729.99)

Unfortunately, this is the second time within six months that Microsoft has raised prices on its Xbox hardware here in the US. The company blames it on ‘changes in the macroeconomic environment’, which is really tariffs. The only upside is that pricing for controllers and headsets, and the Xbox console outside of the US, will remain the same.

In our opinion, Microsoft isn’t heading in the best direction in regards to its placement in gaming. There isn’t a ton of exclusive games, the company is moving to handheld gaming, and now another price hike — all for an aging console. Remember, the Xbox Series S and X are 5 years old, and to ask more $$ for it is nuts. Best of luck with the holiday sales, Microsoft.
