Google’s Performance Advisor, Golden State Warriors guard, and future NBA Hall-of-Fame player Steph Curry teased new fitness-focused hardware. Curry posted a new video on his IG yesterday, which teased the new hardware on his wrist in the 15-second video.
The short video shows Curry wearing a gray and orange wristband on his left wrist, with the words “a new relationship with your health coming soon,” and the clip ends with the Google logo. The product resembles a Whoop-like wearable, which has all of the data-tracking sensors, but without a screen. Curry’s role as Google’s Performance Advisor began last year as a part of a multi-year partnership, and whatever this new product is will be the first as a part of this collaboration.
This coincides with Fitbit teasing new hardware on the way with Fitbit’s Health Coach announcement late last year. Bloomberg corroborates this with its recent report on Google’s take on a Whoop-style wearable. We can only assume that it will support Fitbit’s software and its premium subscription tier when it arrives in the market.
