In an unexpected announcement yesterday, Motorola announced a new mid-range smartphone to fill out its growing portfolio of budget and premium devices. Introducing the $600 Motorola Edge 2026, which mirrors previous Edge devices with a thin and lightweight profile and arrives on June 11 in the Martini Olive color on Verizon, with other carriers to follow here in the US.
The Moto Edge 2026 sits at 7.22mm thick and weighs in at only 160.5 grams, as opposed to 9mm and 183 grams for the Pixel 10a and the 7.8mm and 169 grams for the iPhone 17e. The new Edge offers a 6.3-inch 1080p 120Hz OLED screen, powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 7450 chip coupled with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, dual stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support, and a fast-charging 5,000 mAh battery capable of 24 hours of juice in a 7-minute charge.
On the camera side of things, the new Edge touts a triple 50MP camera system, but not all of them are in the rear. The main and ultrawide consist of a 50MP Sony sensor, a 10MP telephoto sensor capable of 3x zoom with the help of AI, and a 50MP selfie camera. The main sensor is capable of 4K video, as the ultrawide handles the macrophotography duties.
Motorola also announced their $100 Moto Buds 2 earbuds, which offer a dual-driver audio system consisting of 11mm dynamic drivers and 6mm Micro Planar Magnetic drivers, Dolby Atmos support, and dynamic ANC. The Moto Buds 2 can connect to two devices simultaneously and have an 11-hour battery that extends to up to 48 hours of battery life with its charging case. The Buds 2 go on sale on July 2 here in the US.
