Here’s one new feature we know is coming to Samsung’s foldables at Unpacked next week on July 22. Yesterday, Samsung unveiled its new Flex Titanium display technology, which essentially offers a more durable screen with a less visible crease in the inner display.
The company says this technology was built on seven generations of foldable innovation, which suggests it will arrive on the new Z Fold 8 and Z Flip 8 phones. Samsung achieved this by using two components: a titanium alloy film placed beneath the OLED panel, which provides 20x greater stiffness, and, beneath it, a titanium plate that eliminates air gaps and provides stable support when the screen is unfolded.
The technology sounds awfully like the seamless foldable display showcased at CES with an invisible crease in the center. Samsung also revealed its new display will offer improved resolution while reducing power consumption. So, between this and Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon chip, it should, essentially, boost overall battery life on the upcoming Samsung foldables.
