In case you’re wondering where the new Android tablets are, Samsung has heard your call. Earlier this morning, Samsung unveiled its newest tablets: the $1,200 Galaxy Tab S12+ and the $1,400 Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra, with both slates arriving on October 7th in gray and silver colors and now available for preorder.
The Galaxy Tab S12+ is a 12.6-inch screen and up to 21 hours of juice on a single charge, and the S12 Ultra has a 14.6-inch with up to 23 hours of battery life. Both versions of the Tab S12 offer IP68-rated water and dust resistant bodies, quad speakers with Spatial Audio support, fast charging where a 45 W brick can warrant a recharge from 0 to 100% around 95 minutes, a six-month Google AI Pro trial, and Adobe Photoshop preinstalled.
Both tablets are equipped 120 Hz AMOLED screens with adaptive refresh rates up to 1,600 nits of peak brightness, with a MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chip (which is quoted to provide up to 19% faster CPU, 17% better GPU, and up to 61% faster NPU), armed with a new vapor chambers system for better internal heat management, includes the S Pen stylus, runs Android 17 with Samsung’s One UI 9, and supports up to seven years of software and security upgrades.
Samsung is the only company still making the only Android-based tablets worth buying these days, IMO. Both slates look and sound amazing. While the company only revealed two tablets this go round, Samsung offers a compelling case to pick up the mid-tier S12+ for those who want to save a little.
