Today was the day many have been waiting for. The official arrival of Apple’s first touchscreen laptop. Meet the MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR Display, as Apple is calling it. It will arrive in both 14-inch starting at $2,900, and 16-inch models starting at $3,400. Pre-orders begin today, and goes on sale on November 6.

The actual display itself utilizes a tandem OLED display, which essentially uses a stacked structure for brighter displays, punchier colors, and deeper blacks without producing halos or blurs. It has ProMotion technology on board with refresh rates from 10 Hz to 120 Hz. The screen can now reach up to 2,000 nits of peak brightness and natively supports P3 and Adobe RGB color spaces. And like many premium Apple products, yes, there is a nano-texture option for less glare if desired for an additional $150. Lastly, Apple made its new touchscreen for fingers, so there is no Apple Pencil support.

And yes, the Apple logo on the outside glows again.

The screens also have thinner bezels and include a similarly sized Dynamic Island from the recent iPhone 18 Pro phones. This is centered around the 12 MP Center Stage camera that stays put. There you can access features like media controls, Spotlight search, Live Activities, AirDrop notifications, and Siri AI, now with just a touch of a finger. While the Touch ID button remains in the top-right corner of the keyboard layout.

The new 14-inch model weighs only 3 lbs, which is lighter than the non-touchscreen version that comes in at 3.5 lbs. While the new 16-inch (or 16.3) model comes down to 4 lbs versus the 4.6 lbs from its non-touchscreen model. Both ship with a base of an M5 Pro chip, 24 GB of RAM, 1 TB of storage, and a 70W adapter.

Audio output improves with a six-speaker setup that includes a newly installed woofer and new tweeters capable of 50% deeper bass and better clarity. The usual suspects of three Thunderbolt 5 ports, HDMI, an SDXC slot, MagSafe, and a headphone jack are still present, along with Bluetooth 6 and Wi-Fi 7 support. Battery life remains at 24 hours on a single charge with fast-charging providing up to 50% in just 30 minutes.
