According to the Wall Street Journal, Google is looking to switch up their tactics on combating Apple’s iPad by offering their own Google-branded slates.   The company is hoping to do so by reviving an failed approach used with the original Nexus One by selling tablet directly to the people online.   The search company could possibly look to Motorola, ASUS, and/or Samsung to build.

This ties with the popular rumor of Google working with ASUS to launch a high-end Nexus tablet that could sell anywhere between $199-$299 sometime later this year.  WSJ suggests Google’s online store to launch sometime this year.  Hopefully they decide to tighten up their user experience as we suggested before going on an all-out last effort to sell a respectable amount of Android tablets.
