Now that I have finally acquired an iPad, gotta keep it safe.  As beautiful as Apple’s tablet is bare,  no one wants to see a cracked glass or chipped aluminum rear.  Especially on a $500 tablet.  While there are a plethora of 3rd party case manufacturers out there, I immediately went to my favorite case maker: Portenzo.

Having already reviewed their popular BookCase for the Nexus 7 and is still as sturdy and solid as when I took out of its packaging back in September.  If you need to get familiar with Portenzo and what they are all about, get briefed here.  Will this get the same grade as their case for the Nexus 7?  Stick around past the break to find out.

The well-crafted case uses old book-binding techniques like using real, hand-sanded American Maple wood as the base.

 Design/Build
Once I took the BookCase out of the packaging, I was instantly impressed with the quality.   And I can tell you after using this frequently for about a month and using the BookCase for my Nexus 7 since November, the quality and my opinion hasn’t changed at all.  Still retains the solid frame as I have no concerns whenever I drop my case.  I love how Portenzo disguises my tablet as an older book to carry around in covert mode.

“The only thing this case is missing is a Bluetooth keyboard.”

Function
Let’s begin with the cover, which doubles as a Smart Cover, that puts your iPad to sleep when closed and awakens when you open it.  No extra charges for it.  Next up with their patented IntelliStand, which adds a 90-degree and 130-degree viewing angles on top of the 10-degree one to cover anyway you would want to consume media content on your iPad.

Held together with magnets for a stable iPad stand.  And finally for those of you who take photos on your iPad, you have the option the add the camera opening so you can still take photos from within the BookCase.   The only thing this case is missing is a Bluetooth keyboard.  Other than that, Portenzo has got you covered.

Definitely a sturdy, well-crafted case that would leave no sign of worry for your tablet.
TG 2 Cents
When reviewing the case for the Nexus 7 I easily fell in love Portenzo’s products and I think you will too.   But at the end of the day, it all depends on the case needs for your tablet.  Some may need a Bluetooth keyboard,  a sleeve, or a heavy-duty offering of protection.   The BookCase offers ideal protection, style, and great functionality.  A great value for anyone looking to add some covert style to their iPad without it looking ridiculous.

To Buy Or Not To Buy
To put it bluntly, if you can spare the $$$ for an iPad, you can buy this.  If you were gifted an iPad, you may as well invest in a case to keep it secure to last for a while.  This is a Buy in our books.
