While everyone is hoping for a big change for the 2nd-generation iPad mini – expect it to get the usual Apple refresh treatment.  The upcoming mini is set to offer improved specs (CPU, battery, etc.) in addition to being thinner + lighter.  Apparently, Apple is following the same cycle as they did with the full-sized 9.7inch iPad and waiting for the 3rd-gen to go Retina.

No Retina iPad mini, better luck next year.

For many of you holding out from picking up an iPad mini to wait for a Retina version, your wait may have got a bit longer.  According to a report by Digitimes, the 2048 x 1536 resolution iPad mini could launch as early as early 2014 w/ production kicking off later this year.  Along with the new display, Apple is said to offer a bezel-less design that would reduce the weight by 20%-30% and beef up the battery + GPU for the new display.

Who’s gonna wait until next year to go Retina on their mini?
