Last but not least is the unveiling of their Bixby-powered smart speaker: the Galaxy Home.  This is Samsung’s representative to combat in the smart speaker arena – just as the rumors suggested.

The Galaxy Home looks a cross between the original Google Home & the Apple Homepod.  It has a similar Google Home shape covered in weaved fabric a la the Homepod.  The look of it is fine but I was hoping for something a little more original I guess.

It will offer 6 speakers tuned by AKG of course, a subwoofer, and 8 far-field mics to hear your voice.  It has natural sound processing to create a surround sound effect as well as a way to direct audio to you.  It has 3 legs on the bottom to be put anywhere – from the desk to the floor. It will be armed w/ Bixby version 2.0 which will still don’t know the full extent of its new abilities/features.

However, there isn’t a lot of info on the Galaxy Home outside of what was discussed at the Unpacked.  There’s no pricing or window of when it might become available.  We don’t know if it will only support Bixby as a virtual assistant or if it will stream music from services outside of Spotify.  Some or most of this stuff might get answered at Samsung’s Developer Conference in November.

Anyone looking to get details on it or not interested?
