Another product update from Apple’s Welcome Home event includes the company’s smaller smart speaker. Meet the Apple HomePod Mini 2, as it also gets a $50 price increase along with a few new features. It now costs $150, will arrive in blue, green, pink, white, and black colors, and will be available on October 30.
The mini 2 has a new feature called Sound Glow, which utilizes the speaker’s lights to copy the colors of the artwork to whatever album you’re listening to. The feature can also showcase raindrop or ocean wave patterns for soundscapes. You can also pair two speakers to your Mac or MacBook via AirPlay for a stereo setup and pair four as surround sound speakers using the new Apple TV 4K with Siri AI.
Speaking of which, the company’s new AI will support up to six users per household via voice. It will also be able to use context to find a song a friend recommended via messages in addition to finding a recipe in your emails or setting reminders for a calendar event or location. Unfortunately, Siri AI won’t be available at launch, and Apple didn’t specify when.
