As we approach the final leg of flagship smartphones set to arrive for the year, OnePlus is getting eve3ryone excited for theirs.  We’re talking about the OnePlus 6T to be exact.   Last week there was a leak of the retail box that teased an in-display fingerprint reader and it is now confirmed.

The folks over at CNET confirmed the feature as it will be added to Face Unlock as an extra biometric security measure.  The screenshot above is from the device showing off the icon for it as well.  This would make the OnePlus 6T a bit thicker as some internals need to be moved around to pull this off.  This would also make the bezels a bit cleaner as the notch is said to get smaller for this phone as well.

While Vivo was the 1st device to offer this technology on a smartphone, this will be a mainstream device so the 6T might be considered the 1st in people’s minds.  It wasn’t as fast as the standard fingerprint reader at the time, but I’m sure OnePlus made the proper adjustments to speed it up.  Or at least, I hope they did.

The OnePlus 6T is due out sometime next month as it is also set to be the first OnePlus device to be sold w/ US carrier support – namely T-Mobile.  As long as they continue to improve on the cameras, OnePlus continues to get better which each device iteration.

Who was holding out for the 6T?  Who excited about the in-display fingerprint reader?
