The days of guessing what the new name of Android would be are officially gone.  Today, Google announced the end of the dessert names as Android Q is now Android 10.  We went from Cupcake to Donut to Eclair to Froyo to Gingerbread to Honyecomb to Ice Cream Sandwich to Jelly Bean to KitKat to Lollipop to Marshmallow to Nougat to Oreo and lastly, to Pie.

Google says the stopped the dessert names due to different treats having different names across the globe.  Like the letters L and R aren’t distinguishable in all languages which can be troublesome for a platform that serves over 2.5 billion devices across the world.

The new name brings forth a new-ish logo to rebrand as well.  The color of the font goes from Green to Black in a more simplified overall look to it.  As the previous shade of Green wasn’t easy to read in all places.  While the Android robot mascot goes from a more neon green to a more slightly dakrer shade of Green.

The final version of Android Q 10 is coming in the next few weeks as we’ll see the new logo & possibly the font in Pixel and other beta devices ahead of the Pixel 4 launch in October.

So who’s sad about this news?
