Gizmodo has found some sad news for those who love Hulu. Hulu has plans to charge for some content sometime in 2010. Below is a statement from Hulu’s co-parent company:

It’s time to start getting paid for broadcast content online. I think a free model is a very difficult way to capture the value of our content. I think what we need to do is deliver that content to consumers in a way where they will appreciate the value. Hulu concurs with that, it needs to evolve to have a meaningful subscription model as part of its business.

With that said, maybe they plan on bring in more premium content since they said paid for broadcast content. Not sure. Hard to value something that’s free for its customers but time will tell if this will be work for or against Hulu’s cause.
