Nokia announced today that they are offering Ovi Maps for free that provides walking & driving navigation with turn-by-turn directions. This applies to all Nokia devices with a GPS built-in and works globally in74 countries and in 46 languages. The Ovi Maps will also be available offline without a data connection. The devices compatible are: Nokia X6, Nokia N97 mini, E72, E55, E52, Nokia 6730 classic, Nokia 6710 Navigator, Nokia 5800 Xpressmusic, Nokia 5800 Navigation Edition, Nokia 5230. The Nokia N97 will be ready to download Ovi Maps on January 28th, there are some software bugs to still work out. Still no word on when the N900 will be ready if at all. However in March, Nokia will be releasing some new GPS-equipped devices.
