Gizmodo.com is reporting that Microsoft’s dual-screened, book-like tablet has been cancelled. It appears there is one less tablet in the tablet wars. Microsoft had no official word on why they chose to scrap the innovative tablet concept into full-fledged production BUT Microsoft’s VP of Communications told them:
At any given time, we’re looking at new ideas, investigating, testing, incubating them. It’s in our DNA to develop new form factors and natural user interfaces to foster productivity and creativity. The Courier project is an example of this type of effort. It will be evaluated for use in future offerings, but we have no plans to build such a device at this time.
We were definitely intrigued by the pen & touch-based tablet and what it could bring to the table. Maybe they will start from the ground up on a new tablet or focus on other things like Windows Phone 7.
