Steve Jobs wrote an open letter for all to read in regards to Apple’s stand on not using Flash on its devices. Steve goes to further explain himself in rich details on the matter. Jobs explains Flash is controlled and available only by Adobe which is not really open compared to HTML5, CSS, & Javascript which are open web standards not controlled by any one company. He also states Flash is the number one reason Macs crash along with Symantec (company behind Norton Internet security) giving it one of the worst security records in 2009. He stated previously that Flash has yet to perform well on mobile devices and with Adobe consistently delaying mobile Flash support, he is glad he went the HTML5 route. As well as poor battery life and lack of touch support, Jobs feels Flash is the past and HTML5 is the future of web content. Hit the link to read the full letter.
