PCMag editor Sascha Segan was able to get info out of Verizon in regards to 4G data pricing for those looking to dodge the contract bullet.   VZW informed him that the option is available and the pricing will be the same as the on-contract pricing at $50 for 5GB monthly and $80 for 10GB monthly.   Of course without a contract, the LG VL600 and Pantech UML290 USB modems will cost more at $249.99 as opposed to the $99 w/ contract after $50 mail-in rebate.   So when the 4G-capable smartphones arrive in 2011, we should expect the same pricing options as the modems.
