We here at TechGuySmartBuy get asked a lot by friends, family members, & co-workers about which tablet they should pick up.   Between review units we handle and just heading to Best Buy or phone carrier to play with the newest tablet, we get to have plenty of time with a lot of the tablets out there.   We decided to share our thoughts on what we saw as the top five tablets in the market right now.   Read on below for our two cents.

1) Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1

Definitely this is our current favorite tablet with what we think is the best hardware.   The Tab 10.1 was the a good screen size without having to suffer with a heavy slate in your hands.  Armed with the latest version of Android, on the thinnest and sexiest Tab made by Samsung and 10.1 inch screen with sharp resolution for all of your browsing, movie-watching, and e-reading needs on the go.

2) Apple iPad 2

The iPad sequel is as magical as Apple advertised it as… well almost.   Say what you want about the iPad 2 but the numbers of sales it has produced don’t lie.   While it doesn’t have the best dual cameras on a tablet or the best speakers, it has the most polished and solid OS with iOS running all of your tasks.  Apple has the best apps and app selection of all of the platforms out there and face it, without any apps you have a BlackBerry tablet pretty much.  If it wasn’t for the hardware build of the Tab 10.1, this would have took the crown.

3) HTC Flyer/ EVO View 4G (Sprint)

HTC unveiled their tablet with more treats than your average Android slate.  The Flyer or EVO View 4G if you picked it up for Sprint, offer Gingerbread on a tablet with Sense and a stylus pen which makes for plenty of firsts. All makes for a different Android experience on a tablet as you can boost productivity with note-taking/drawing along with having the Sense UI on a big screen.   This definitely stands out in the tablet crowd by offering a little more.

4) ASUS Eee Pad Transformer

ASUS recently entered the tablet arena with several slates, we thought their Transformer was a great addition for consumers to choose from.   The Transformer is an Android tablet that with the optional keyboard dock turns it into a netbook.   That along with being a Honeycomb table that starts at the low price of $399.99, definitely makes it a contender for anyone seeking an Android tablet.

5) The BlackBerry PlayBook/HP TouchPad (tie)

Our fifth and last place winners are tied with the PlayBook and the TouchPad.   I know a  lot of my fellow bloggers along with readers may disagree or read our fifth place choice is awe.   We know, we know but let us explain why.  Both tablets are similar in regards to having serious potential but not quite the hot ticket item.   The PlayBook lacks any familiar/decent app support and the TouchPad’s hardware is average but both slates support their phones as an extension of their devices with the BlackBerry Bridge on the PlayBook & Touch-To-Share on the TouchPad.   Both QNX & webOS have similar gesture navigation and UI appearances.   The PlayBook may reach new heights when native BBM/email/calendar & Android app support arrives.   The TouchPad shows how great webOS can be on a 9.7inch display with good apps from the launch.
